The Padma River

This stunning NASA timelaspe shows the Yarlung Zangbo River, a "braided river," in Tibet over nearly forty years. According to NASA, the images are false-color and "incorporate wavelengths of light undetectable to human eyes, to better distinguish between water (blue) and land (brown)." "Braided rivers form when fast water meets too much sediment," NASA explains. "Regular flooding results in constantly shifting channels that split, rejoin, and erase themselves year after year.
