I read the Color of Law by Richard Rothstein several years ago. It was a groundbreaking treatise on American residential policy and programs that specifically impacted black Americans. When I read books like that the grave injustice makes me angry, but reading it also gives me hope because there is no vision without a clear understanding of how things came to be. It’s why I love the book of Genesis in the Bible. Beginnings are worth remembering so that we understand how to approach the present.
