Trotting through a ditch on a loose rein, 8th ride. Some have a hard time believing that this horse can do this on the 8th ride. But it’s not how many rides he has it’s the time it took to get him to this point. I’m not being a “hippie” and saying don’t use your reins, but if all you’re doing is hanging on your horses mouth because of fear and/or control you’re doing the opposite of fixing these issues. I sometimes play a game with myself and if I’m teaching, where you can pick up on the reins if you can tell me why - even if the answer is fear, at least you’re present
