NASA satellites captured Anak Krakatau erupting as volcanic ash climbed up to 50,000 feet and spread across parts of Indonesia.
Eight Indonesian airports, including two serving Jakarta, remained closed early on Monday morning because of volcanic ash from eruptions at Mount Anak Krakatau, the transport minister said.
The latest eruptions of Indonesia's Mount Anak Krakatau disrupted air travel, affecting more than 270,000 people, and underscored the threat posed by the Southeast Asian country's more than 100 active volcanoes - the highest number of any country in the world.
